The Perceptual Engineering Group is involved in research activities associated with human responses to communications services.
Central to the work of the group is perceptual responses to video and audio services delivered over telecommunications networks. The group have developed quality of service measurement and enhancement products. The group has expertise in human auditory and visual processes, perceptual modelling, subjective quality testing, perceptual quality of service for video, image processing, video coding, audio coding, algorithm development and digital signal processing. The successful spin-out Psytechnics was formed by former members of the group.
